If anyone has experience with trading both manually on thinkorswim and programmatically through TD Ameritrade's API during market open, do you notice any difference in your fill quality when using the API versus using thinkorswim?Įdit: I'm mostly focused on equities, but I'd like to hear experiences with options/futures also. by jonniego Trouble getting fills with TD Ameritrade Since late December Ive been having a harder and harder time getting my orders filled. I've tested the feature, but again, I've never tried using the API to place orders when the market opens. There are several options to 'blast all', '1st triggers sequence','one cancels order' and so on. ![]() The other thing I think you may be referring to is under the advanced order menu. On the side, I fiddle with the TD Ameritrade API, which gives me the option to programmatically place orders. From the Trade screen, create a trade and click on the gear icon next to the trade and you can see options for submitting at a certain time or canceling. I'm currently only using thinkorswim for its charting features, so I've never tried placing orders when the market opens, so I don't have any experience with how it actually is. I see a lot of complaints and comments about how thinkorswim lags during the first minutes of the market open, and that makes getting orders filled in a timely manner very unreliable. ![]()
